Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • ability to pass the written TABE test
  • ability to read, write, and understand English
  • excellent customer service skills
  • ability to follow simple oral and written directions
  • ability to stand and walk for the full shift
  • ability to use mops, buckets, cleaning solutions, vacuum cleaners, utility carts, floor cleaning machines, and wet/dry vacuums
  • ability to work flexible shifts including days, evenings, or weekends
  • ability to travel between sites
  • valid New York State driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • ability to frequently perform physical activities such as standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, talking, seeing, and repetitive motions
  • ability to work in environments exposed to odors, medical waste, disease, and unsanitary conditions

Job Qualifications

  • valid New York State driver’s license free from major infractions and access to reliable vehicle

Job Duties

  • Monitors refrigerators and removes spoiled food
  • follows principles of infection control and universal precautions
  • cleans blood and bodily fluids as needed
  • observes and reports pest control issues and participates in corrective actions
  • reports unusual room conditions and environmental safety issues
  • performs cleaning procedures after resident discharge or transfer and prepares rooms for new occupancy
  • assists new residents with move-in activities such as hanging clothing
  • makes beds and straightens residents' rooms
  • cleans hallways, stairways, and elevators
  • responds quickly to all work orders and completes documentation
  • cleans staff and participant bathrooms, clinic areas, employee break rooms, and kitchens
  • adheres to compliance policies and code of conduct
  • promotes and fosters compliance in the workplace
  • maintains respectful relationships with customers, participants, families, and staff
  • demonstrates knowledge and adherence to emergency preparedness plans
  • promotes the mission, values, vision, and strategic goals of Loretto
  • models excellent customer service including friendly greeting and timely response
  • maintains excellent attendance, reliability, and work ethics
  • attends required meetings and training
  • complies with dress code and safety policies
  • practices and teaches safety awareness
  • understands HIPAA and other regulatory requirements
  • performs various related duties as assigned
