Job Requirements
- Related work experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired
- General knowledge of cleaning terms and safety procedures related to hazardous cleaning chemicals
- Ability to read and follow cleaning instructions and schedules
- Ability to practice effective oral communication skills with students, faculty and staff
- Ability to read, understand and abide by all safety policies and procedures
- Ability to work independently, without close supervision
- Ability to remain calm during stress periods
- Command of the English language

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior residential or hotel housekeeping experience preferred
- Experience using mechanical cleaning equipment preferred
- Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) preferred.
Job Duties
- Clean, vacuum, and mop common areas, hallways, and stairwells in residential facilities
- Clean laundry rooms including mopping floors and wiping down machines
- Clean balconies and sidewalks in and around residence halls
- Clean bathrooms, remove trash daily, move and spot clean furniture, and shampoo carpets
- Clean student rooms during building transitions or student check-out
- Daily pick-up of exterior community grounds
- Clean selected offices and classrooms including desks, dusting, window ledges, windows, furniture, doors, vacuuming, white boards and emptying trash
- Make minor repairs to student room furniture
- Install window treatments and replace light bulbs
- Pick up and dispose of trash from residential buildings to designated trash collection locations
- Load and unload furniture and materials, transporting to designated locations using equipment
- Note and report items to supervisor needing repair or suspicious/unlawful items around the facility
- Report safety matters to supervisor
- Communicate need for additional cleaning supplies to Lead Housekeeper
- Maintain positive working relationships with department and campus community
- Follow all State, University and departmental policies and procedures
- Work essential shifts during severe weather
- Work on rotating basis to cover evenings and weekends
- Be subject to recall after hours for emergencies or special needs
- Perform snow and ice removal as directed
- Maintain punctuality and attendance
- Report accidents and submit reports
- Attend training and meetings as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
