Job Requirements

  • Must possess a minimum 8th grade education
  • Must be at least 18 years old or have an executed work permit
  • Must be able to understand the English language
  • Must have the ability to make independent decisions and follow instructions
  • Must be able to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, and personnel
  • Must maintain care and use of supplies and maintain cleanliness of housekeeping areas
  • Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel
  • Must be able to follow mixing instructions for cleaning solutions
  • Must relate necessary information about resident conditions
  • Must not pose a direct threat to workplace health or safety

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Ensure that work and cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical
  • Report all accidents and incidents to your supervisor on the shift they occur
  • Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services in resident living and recreational areas
  • Attend departmental and staff meetings as directed
  • Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments
  • File complaints and grievances with supervisor
  • Ensure adequate supply of housekeeping materials in utility closets
  • Keep supervisor informed of supply needs
  • Report burned out lights and malfunctioning equipment to supervisor
  • Assist others in lifting heavy equipment and supplies
  • Clean work and supply carts and equipment
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned and properly stored at shift end
  • Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned
  • Empty and sanitize ash trays daily
  • Clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, and room heating and cooling units
  • Clean, wash, sanitize, and polish bathroom fixtures
  • Clean windows and mirrors
  • Sweep, dust, mop, strip, wax, buff, and disinfect floors
  • Clean carpets by vacuuming
  • Clean walls and ceilings by washing and dusting
  • Remove dirt, dust, grease, and film from surfaces
  • Clean hallways, stairways, and elevators
  • Discard waste and reline trash receptacles
  • Clean vacant rooms as assigned
  • Ensure work areas and equipment are clean and stored properly
  • Perform isolation cleaning following infection control procedures
  • Discard infectious waste into proper containers
