Job Requirements
- Supports the mission, resident life, health, and wellness philosophy, and the code of professional conduct of BHI Retirement Communities, Inc
- Understands and abides by the BHI Retirement Communities, Inc, employee handbook, and other policies and procedures applicable to the department
- Reports known or potential violations of resident rights, abuse, professional ethics, corporate compliance, HIPAA privacy, confidentiality, anti-harassment, zero-tolerance workplace violence, profanity, time-keeping, and other policies
- Attends work as scheduled maintaining acceptable personal appearance/hygiene and follows the dress code
- Keeps the work area neat, clean, and orderly
- Understands and performs job functions effectively and meets job requirements and deadlines
- Demonstrates sound judgment and discretion
- Exhibits quality customer service behaviors with kindness, tact, and courtesy
- Communicates respectfully and clearly both verbally and in writing
- Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Complies with required training and reporting requirements including emergency procedures and fire safety training

- Must be precise, detail-oriented, able to read instructions and technical information
- Must be able to travel around the community by walking or driving a golf cart
- Physical ability to load/unload supplies and equipment, move furniture and supplies, stand and walk for extended periods, dexterity to manipulate supplies and equipment, and adequate hearing and vision
- May be exposed to communicable diseases, industrial chemicals, and must follow safety and ergonomic procedures when lifting or moving objects
- Handles physical labor that requires bending, twisting, stretching, pushing, pulling, and lifting light to heavy objects
- Capable of working with residents with varying levels of physical, medical, psychological, and behavioral impairments
Job Qualifications
- Must be able to acquire sufficient knowledge and learn new skills through on-the-job training and instructions to satisfactorily meet job performance requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Prior professional housekeeping experience preferred
Job Duties
- Cleans resident units, bathing areas, lounges, offices, hallways, dining area, common areas, public bathrooms, and other rooms as assigned
- Mops floors, vacuums, spot cleans carpeted areas, and empties trash
- Dusts and/or washes furniture, fixtures, and equipment
- Washes windows and sills and other annual cleaning functions as required
- Cleans public telephone and drinking fountains
- Cleans and sanitizes lavatories and toilet bowls inside and out
- Performs written cleaning procedures and follows written cleaning schedules for common areas, resident units, and health center rooms
- Keeps all equipment and storage areas clean and orderly
- Transports and stocks linens and other equipment
- Follows all written infection control procedures established by the community
