Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED not required
  • ability to read, write and understand the English language
  • ability to follow simple oral and written directions
  • excellent customer service skills
  • ability to stand and walk for duration of shift
  • ability to use cleaning equipment such as mops, buckets, cleaning solutions, vacuum cleaners, utility carts, floor cleaning machines, and wet/dry vacuums
  • ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • ability to frequently stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, talk, see and perform repetitive motions
  • may include moving light furniture
  • willingness to work in environments exposed to odors, medical wastes, disease and unsanitary conditions

Job Duties

  • Monitor refrigerators and remove spoiled food
  • follow principles of infection control and universal precautions
  • clean blood and bodily fluids as needed
  • observe and report pest control and environmental safety issues
  • perform cleaning procedures after resident discharge or transfer
  • assist new residents with move-in tasks like hanging clothing
  • make beds and straighten residents' rooms
  • clean hallways, stairways, and elevators as instructed
