Job Duties
- Disinfects and sanitizes assigned work area using proper equipment
- removes waste, linen, recycling, some equipment, and sharps containers
- cleans assigned area(s) following the daily duty sheet
- vacuums assigned area(s), uses and maintains equipment properly and safely
- reports needed repairs or safety related items immediately to appropriate level of management
- reports any patient's belongings found to nursing immediately for prompt follow up
- replenishes patient supplies as needed or requested by the patient
- strips, sanitizes and makes all types of hospital beds
- demonstrates proper use of standard precautions and infection control policies
- demonstrates proper use of chemicals
- maintains a clean cart and cart closet
- empowered to always work in a safe manner around patients and coworkers
- cross trains in multiple areas and helps out in other areas as assigned
- operates hospital provided communication (Vocera) in a professional manner
- learns and understands EPIC software for transfers and discharges
- adapts to seeing and cleaning blood, body fluids and body waste
- follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries
