  • at least one year of housekeeping experience
  • ability to pass drug test

Job Duties

  • perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned
  • perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments
  • clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, room heating and cooling units in resident rooms and recreational areas daily
  • clean, wash, sanitize, and polish bathroom fixtures ensuring water marks are removed
  • clean windows and mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit ways
  • clean floors including sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting with proper safety precautions
  • clean carpets including vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting
  • clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing
  • remove dirt, dust, grease, and film from surfaces using proper cleaning and disinfecting solutions
  • clean hallways, stairways, and elevators
  • discard waste and trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles
  • clean vacant rooms as assigned
  • ensure work areas and equipment are clean and properly stored
  • perform isolation cleaning procedures following infection control protocols
  • discard infectious wastes properly
  • clean foyer and entryways
  • maintain adequate supply of housekeeping materials
  • keep supervisor informed of supply and facility needs
  • assist others in lifting heavy equipment and supplies
  • clean and store equipment properly at end of shift
  • follow fire safety and established safety protocols
  • wear safety equipment as required for lifting or moving heavy objects
  • remove hazards from work areas
  • use appropriate techniques and follow manufacturer’s labels when mixing chemicals
  • report hazardous conditions or equipment
  • use personal protective equipment when handling infectious materials or hazardous wastes
  • follow handwashing procedures
  • dispose of refuse per sanitation procedures
  • coordinate isolation cleaning with nursing
  • participate in in-service training for exposure to blood, body fluids, or hazardous chemicals
  • follow procedures to ensure facility cleanliness and safety
