Job Requirements

  • Previous experience in housekeeping or environmental services preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Previous housekeeping experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting preferred
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and cleaning protocols

  • Physical stamina to perform cleaning duties that require standing, walking, lifting, and bending
  • Basic understanding of chemical safety and proper handling procedures

Job Duties

  • Perform daily cleaning and disinfecting of resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, nursing stations, dining areas, hallways, and staff workspaces
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize floors, furniture, fixtures, windows, and equipment according to infection control and facility protocols
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces frequently throughout the day to reduce the spread of infection (e.g., doorknobs, handrails, elevator buttons)
  • Replenish soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and other hygiene supplies in restrooms and resident areas
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and usage of cleaning chemicals and supplies in accordance with safety data sheets (SDS) and facility training
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of housekeeping closets and supply carts
  • Remove and dispose of general and biohazard waste safely, following standard precautions and infection prevention guidelines
  • Assist in deep cleaning routines for rooms after resident discharge or transfer, including bed frames, walls, and curtains
  • Monitor and report pest control concerns, water leaks, mold, or other environmental hazards to the supervisor immediately
  • Communicate effectively with nursing and maintenance teams regarding special cleaning needs or urgent issues
  • Participate in fire safety, emergency, and infection control drills and procedures as required
  • Provide respectful and courteous service to residents, always maintaining privacy and dignity
  • Support the facility's mission of providing a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment for long-term care residents
  • Adhere to daily work schedules and complete required housekeeping logs or checklists
