Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • two years of experience working with homeless or at-risk populations
  • ability to work independently and make sound decisions in crisis situations
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • physical ability to ascend/descend stairs up to three or more sets
  • frequently move equipment weighing up to 25 lbs
  • able to remain stationary 50 percent of the time

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of experience with homeless, disabilities and/or other disenfranchised groups preferred
  • previous work with homeless individuals and/or families, disabilities or other at-risk populations
  • ability to work alone and handle crises with good judgment
  • adequate communication skills both written and oral
  • capable of maintaining detailed logs and records
  • familiarity with agency and program policies

Job Duties

  • Manages the operations of the program during the day
  • responsible for admitting residents as they enter shelter with Heading Home and ensuring appropriateness for placement
  • responsible for making supplies available including food for residents' snacks and lunches
  • reads and updates staff logs with all-important information occurring during the shift
  • maintains appropriate logs of evening and weekend activities
  • attends scheduled staff meetings
  • adheres to all agency and program policies, procedures and rules
  • performs other tasks as assigned by Program Coordinator
