Job Requirements
- Must have vision ability to visually inspect hotel
- must have mobility to walk through front and back of hotel
- ability to climb approximately 20-30 steps 10% of the week
- physically able to regularly inspect all areas of interior and exterior facility
- reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions
Job Qualifications
- Four-year college degree or equivalent education
- previous experience as general manager or assistant general manager at a similar size and type of hotel
- previous experience as department head at same facility
- advanced knowledge of hospitality and business management fields
- considerable working knowledge of other major areas
- ability to analyze and interpret complex information
- highly developed communication skills
- excellent speech and written skills
- excellent literacy skills necessary for reports, policies and procedures
Job Duties
- Lead the executive committee using a participative style
- coordinate operation of individual departments and special projects
- develop annual operating budget and define required achievement levels
- assure achievement of annual budget in revenues, costs and profits
- set written priorities and key objectives for each department head quarterly including action plan and completion date
- conduct monthly forecasting of operating staff and cost expenditures
- monthly review of financial statements and approve all expenses in other categories
- develop high level of esprit de corps and loyalty to the hotel and company
- communicate, counsel and assist staff development
- conduct performance appraisal and personal development plans for management staff
- assure cost control adherence
- review wage and salary increases for compliance
- quarterly review of future bookings and implement yield management practices
- quarterly review of pricing and recommend timely price increases
- regularly inspect guest rooms, public areas and banquet function set-ups
- establish and implement guest service standards
- develop and implement preventive maintenance program
- develop annual sales and marketing plan and monitor implementation
- review sales solicitation activities and guide sales department
- monitor food and beverage promotion programs
- maintain credit policies and supervise collections
- regularly review front office results to maximize room revenue
- represent hotel in community affairs
- assure implementation of company policies and procedures throughout hotel
