  • Minimum of 3-5 years hotel event sales or event planning experience

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years hotel event sales or event planning experience
  • completed event management trainee program or equivalent experience
  • bachelor’s degree or 3+ years hotel or food and beverage experience preferred
  • proficient in general computer applications
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • professional appearance
  • extremely detail oriented and organized
  • strong time management and multitasking abilities
  • demonstrated leadership skills
  • experience creating marketing concepts and promotional events
  • knowledge of contract negotiation and interpretation
  • comprehensive understanding of hotel operations including guest services, reservations, housekeeping, audio visual, banquets, accounting, restaurants and engineering
  • knowledge of meeting room set-ups and sleeping room configurations
  • capable of upselling and implementing revenue management strategies
  • able to engage effectively with meeting planners and vendors
  • committed to timely follow-up with clients

Job Duties

  • Capture local catering business including weddings, galas, social and corporate events
  • maximize banquet space utilization to achieve and surpass sales targets
  • sell and service banquet food, beverage and room rental
  • conduct hotel tours and tastings for prospective clients
  • plan menus and set event agendas
  • review contracts ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • facilitate communication between clients and hotel staff before, during and after events
  • manage meeting space to optimize revenue potential
  • maintain price integrity for rooms and food and beverage
  • provide accurate forecasts and manage client accounts to secure future business
