Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in hotel engineering or related field
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Proficiency in preventative maintenance techniques
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent team leadership and staff supervision skills
  • Proficiency in budget management
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate's degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in hotel engineering or a related field
  • Supervisory experience
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Proficiency in preventative maintenance techniques and procedures
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent team leadership and staff supervision skills
  • Proficiency in budget management and financial tracking
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in using computers and relevant software
  • Experience with building management systems (BMS) preferred
  • Certified engineering certifications (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) preferred
  • Marriott hotel maintenance supervisor experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the hotel's engineering department
  • Direct and supervise a team of engineers and maintenance staff, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback
  • Manage the hotel's preventative maintenance program, scheduling and overseeing regular inspections and repairs of all building systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues, ensuring minimal downtime
  • Manage the engineering budget, tracking expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely and quality service
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and expenses
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and building codes
  • Maintain a clean and organized engineering workspace
  • Work collaboratively with other hotel departments to address maintenance needs and concerns
