Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Five or more years of progressive sales leadership experience
- Ability to manage and lead a sales department
- Strong negotiation and closing skills
- Effective communication skills
- Experience working in hospitality or hotel sales
- Ability to mentor and train staff
- Knowledge of hotel service standards and guest relations
- Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle guest concerns and complaints
- Familiarity with sales forecasting and budgeting
- Flexibility to participate in community and industry events
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management desired
- Five or more years of related and progressive sales leadership experience in similar organizations or properties
- Five years as a supervisor or manager in a similar setting desired
- Pre-opening hotel experience desired
- Experience managing representation groups
- Solid knowledge of hotel service standards, guest relations, and etiquette
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate staff in high volume, time-sensitive environments
- Experience mentoring and providing training to staff to meet or exceed guest expectations
- Ability to develop and maintain effective sales processes to maximize revenue
- Strong sales techniques and negotiation skills
- Ability to determine customer needs and persuasively present sales options
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional demeanor and positive attitude
- Commitment to high levels of guest satisfaction
Job Duties
- Provides guidance and direction to ensure overall departmental success
- Manages subordinate sales staff
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Sales Department
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining team members, addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Plans department goals and directs team members to achieve results
- Actively solicits new business opportunities through prospecting and networking
- Develops and implements individual and department sales plans
- Participates in community and industry events to market property
- Develops strategies for forecasting, analyzing sales needs, and developing effective product responses
- Plans, manages, and evaluates financial aspects of sales efforts to ensure cost effectiveness
- Supports staff sales efforts including sales trips and customer entertainment
- Participates in hiring process and management training
- Prepares annual budget and controls expenses
- Ensures guests receive outstanding and consistent service
- Works with other departments to communicate and meet guest expectations
- Handles guest concerns and complaints promptly
- Continuously improves sales processes and team performance through leadership and education
- Uses corporate approved computer programs to analyze forecasts and reports and makes decisions to maximize profitability
