Job Requirements

  • High school graduate and or GED equivalent
  • ability to read, write, and understand English
  • basic knowledge of food handling techniques
  • physical ability to be on feet for long periods of time and to endure warm humid environment
  • excellent customer service skills
  • ability to follow and understand oral and written instruction
  • ability to work harmoniously with co-workers
  • ability to deal tactfully and courteously with patients, employees, and visitors

Job Duties

  • Dishes up cold foods in specific quantities for tray assembly
  • sets up service stations and patient trays according to diet list or menu
  • examines patient trays for accuracy and alerts or corrects errors
  • cleans and sanitizes patient reusable wares
  • maintains cart and equipment sanitation
  • prepares, assembles, and distributes patient meal trays, snacks, and nourishments
  • assists patients with meal selections
  • maintains cleanliness of work area and kitchen sanitary conditions
  • takes and records temperature of food items and equipment
  • obtains and applies current diet changes to dietary records and menus
  • checks menus against dietary records to ensure accuracy and conformity
  • answers phones and relays messages
  • builds patient meal trays ensuring tray contents match menu
  • utilizes automated tablet to record and transfer meal selections
  • performs other related duties as required
  • utilizes new improvements and technologies related to job assignment
