Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to use computerized ordering systems
  • Customer service experience preferred but not required
  • On job training will be provided

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Basic knowledge of customer service
  • Proficiency or willingness to learn computerized ordering systems
  • Understanding of dietary needs and meal options
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including walking, lifting, and carrying
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Assist patient with verbal patient meal selections in accordance with current nutrition care order
  • Communicate effectively and clearly
  • Communicate food preferences from patient to food service department to ensure highest patient satisfaction with meal service
  • Communicate frequently with the patient care team for any patient who is problematic, in isolation, or incapable of menu completion to grow insight into known preferences or family requests
  • Answer patient calls in a prompt, courteous manner, and process requests in accordance with patient's nutritional care order
  • Perform minor food preparation and portioning tasks in accordance with departmental policy
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding and proficiency of Vision-Meals Your Way computerized ordering system
  • Demonstrate ability to utilize EPIC for the purpose of viewing and printing reports and to initiate downtime procedures
  • Demonstrate and share basic diet information with patients
  • Refer dietitian to address further education or concerns
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all diets and alternate meal options
  • Transport patient trays
