Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in customer service or hospitality preferred
  • Basic math skills for handling payments
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards in food service
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Greets and welcomes all customers immediately upon arrival and verifies number in their party
  • Determines special needs such as high chairs and special menus
  • Collects payment from customers in accordance with established cash handling procedures
  • Inquires about food and service satisfaction and handles customer complaints and suggestions appropriately
  • Seats customers at tables or booths appropriate for their needs and those of the restaurant
  • Introduces feature of the day
  • Keeps hostess area stocked and clean
  • Handles incoming telephone calls and takes to-go orders
  • Maintains proper supply of clean menus
  • Provides initial beverage suggestions and handles beverage orders and refills
  • Assists service personnel in cleaning and setting tables
  • Resolves complaints and notifies manager of any issues
  • Assists other service personnel as needed
