Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must demonstrate good reading and writing skills as well as good comprehension skills
  • Must possess basic computer skills
  • Able to communicate effectively with patients, families, nursing staff, customer service specialists, dietitians, and other dietary production and transport staff
  • Requires excellent customer service and telephone skills
  • Requires understanding of modified diets
  • Successful completion of Acts 73 and/or 169 clearances within 90 days of commencing employment, if applicable

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Good reading, writing, and comprehension skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Effective communication skills with patients, families, nursing staff, and dietary staff
  • Excellent customer service and telephone skills
  • Understanding of modified diets
  • Previous work experience in patient services preferred

Job Duties

  • Respond to patients' food needs and requests on the patient unit
  • Greet patients, deliver the appropriate menu, and explain the Room Service process to patients and families
  • Assist patients with ordering meals as needed
  • Assure patient satisfaction with all meals and snacks
  • Assemble and/or deliver trays and nourishments to the patient
  • Act as liaison between the patient, the dietary department, and the nursing staff, communicating patient food needs to all staff
  • Stock unit floor kitchens with par level
  • Assist with dishroom duties on daily basis
