Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience in customer service or hospitality desired
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic math skills for cash handling
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and move around restaurant
- Must comply with HMSHost policies and procedures
Job Qualifications
- Customer service and cash handling experience preferred
- Excellent organization skills
- Ability to read and interpret restaurant seating charts
- Demonstrates friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing interaction with public and coworkers
- Ability to bend, twist, and stand during work hours
- Effective verbal and reading comprehension skills to understand instructions and communicate with customers
Job Duties
- Maintains consistent attention to the entrance and welcomes all guests with a smile and appropriate greeting
- Records customer reservations and seating times accurately
- Maintains and updates restaurant seating charts
- Properly sets up and maintains the dining room areas before service
- Assists with maintaining sufficient stock of utensils and supplies
- Seats guests and advises them on menus and beverage choices
- Oversees delivery and servicing of food and beverages
- Liaises between kitchen and floor staff to ensure guest satisfaction
- Performs cashier and bus person duties as needed
- Adheres to HMSHost cash handling policies and maintains cash security
- Patrols assigned station, refilling drinks and removing service items
- Performs additional duties during downtime such as rolling silverware, expediting orders, washing dishes, and cleaning condiment stations
