Job Requirements

  • Be able to write and speak English
  • Must have appropriate city, state and federal certifications according to location of restaurant including alcohol and food handling certificates
  • Experience in restaurant or hospitality industry is a plus
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to follow instructions and ask questions for clarification
  • Understand or experience in operating POS or Host System such as OpenTable
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift and maneuver in limited spaces
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Dependable and reliable
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment

  • Experience or understanding of POS or host systems such as OpenTable

Job Duties

  • Greet guests as they arrive, ensuring proper seating arrangements and reservations check-in or providing a proper wait-list time if necessary
  • Engage with guests to ensure a great dining experience
  • Embrace the JINYA culture and participate in collective company greetings such as Irasshai and Arigato
  • Provide guests with menus, answering initial questions and assisting with special accommodations
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members, including answering phone calls, taking reservations, and maintaining consistent server rotation
  • Ensure cleanliness of Host station and visible areas upon guest arrival
  • Support front-of-house operations by refilling beverages, organizing tables, polishing plates or glasses, resetting tables, and other tasks as needed
  • Respond to minor guest complaints and escalate major concerns to management
  • Know restaurant operations including hours, menu, allergies, table numbers, and payment options
  • Promote and execute JINYA’s core values
  • Complete projects and tasks as assigned by managers or supervisors
