Job Requirements

  • Meet personal schedule requirements punctually
  • stand for long periods of time while on duty
  • move safely throughout all areas of the restaurant
  • work amidst noise in confined crowded space
  • move chairs, transport high chairs and/or booster seats to tables when necessary
  • work nights, weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-year full service restaurant experience or equivalent
  • accurate mathematic skills
  • knowledge of menu and specials
  • understanding of restaurant layout including table and station numbers
  • warm, sincere, and outgoing personality
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to stand for long periods
  • ability to work in a noisy, crowded environment
  • flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Greet and seat guests
  • answer phones and manage reservation calls
  • maintain accurate waitlists
  • seat guests evenly among servers
  • keep head count of seated guests
  • fill out telephone message pads promptly
  • ensure cleanliness of host desk and waiting area
  • sell and account for gift certificate sales
  • move tables for various party sizes
  • communicate effectively with guests and staff
  • quote wait times accurately
  • assign tables efficiently during wait periods
  • maintain host control sheets
  • anticipate needs of special parties
  • coordinate seating needs with service and bus staff
  • inform guests about wait system
