Job Requirements

  • Flexible availability including weekends and holidays between 6:00 AM and 7:30 PM
  • ability to walk for long periods when visiting patient rooms
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance or 10 to 15 pounds frequently
  • ability to handle multiple tasks during peak hours
  • knowledge of safety and sanitation standards
  • physical ability to comply with patient handling lifting requirements as specified
  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Six months to one year experience in hospitality or customer service
  • ability to speak, read, and write English clearly and proficiently
  • basic computer skills including data entry
  • math skills including conversions of ounces, cc, ml
  • effective communication skills

Job Duties

  • Ensures physician's diet orders are met by maintaining current and accurate patient card files and following specific standards for diet compliance
  • processes diet orders including updating and maintaining accurate patient card files
  • adheres to diet standards when entering or modifying menus
  • updates and maintains nourishment orders
  • utilizes CBORD and Care Connection systems for meal selection and diet order processing
  • assists patients with room service and supports menu selections
  • communicates effectively with nursing, room service, and kitchen staff to clarify orders
  • communicates special patient needs to dietitians
  • provides high quality patient service in distributing patient trays and nourishments
  • verifies diet and meal accuracy
  • retrieves soiled meal trays
  • delivers nourishments to patients and unit kitchens
  • properly stores bulk nourishments
  • upholds service commitment through equality, compassion, excellence, partnership, and stewardship
  • uses courtesy and respect in all interactions
  • maintains professional image and follows dress code
  • demonstrates caring attitude
  • documents patient intakes and calorie counts
  • performs additional duties as assigned and communicates status to supervisor
