Job Requirements

  • Minimum age of 16 years or older
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • basic math skills for cash handling
  • availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior customer service or hospitality experience is a plus
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to handle cash and payments accurately
  • ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • friendly and approachable demeanor
  • basic knowledge of food and beverage menus
  • teamwork-oriented attitude

Job Duties

  • Greet and welcome all customers immediately upon arrival and verify number in their party
  • determine special needs such as high chairs or special menus
  • collect payment from customers in accordance with established cash handling procedures
  • inquire about food and service satisfaction and handle customer complaints or suggestions appropriately
  • seat customers at tables or booths appropriate for their needs and those of the restaurant
  • introduce feature of the day
  • keep hostess area stocked and clean including to-go items and bakery products
  • handle incoming telephone calls immediately and take to-go orders as appropriate
  • maintain proper supply of clean menus
  • supply customers with initial beverage suggestions and provide beverage orders and refills
  • assist service personnel in clearing and setting tables
  • resolve complaints and notify manager of any complaints received
  • assist other service personnel as needed
