Job Requirements

Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Smithfield Station
warmly and graciously greet all guests and seat them
open the front door for guests when possible
provide guests with menus and inform them of their server's name upon seating
record guest names and party sizes and provide estimated waiting times
assign guests to appropriate tables and balance server rotations
call out names and party numbers when tables are ready
respond to guest complaints and ensure satisfaction
answer and respond to telephone calls or transfer them
maintain communication with kitchen, management, and staff
inspect dining and serving areas for cleanliness and setup
inform guests of house specialties
receive and record reservations
inspect and maintain restrooms
direct guests to coatrooms and lounges
relay messages to servers and bussers
thank guests and invite them to return
attend employee meetings and offer suggestions
coordinate and assist fellow employees
fill in for others as needed
take and prepare to-go orders
operate cash registers to accept payments

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
previous experience in a hospitality or customer service role advantageous
strong communication and interpersonal skills
ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
friendly and approachable demeanor
basic knowledge of POS systems beneficial
ability to work collaboratively in a team
commitment to delivering excellent customer service

Job Duties

Warmly greet guests and seat them at tables or in waiting areas
open the front door for guests entering or leaving when possible
provide menus and inform guests of their server's name
record guest names and party sizes and provide estimated waiting times
assign guests to tables according to needs and rotation to balance server workload
call out guest names and party numbers when tables become available
ensure guest satisfaction by responding to complaints and engaging in conversation
answer telephone calls and respond to inquiries or transfer calls
maintain contact with kitchen, management, serving staff, and guests to coordinate dining details
inspect dining and serving areas for cleanliness and proper setup
inform guests about establishment specialties
receive and record dining reservations
inspect restrooms for cleanliness and supplies
direct guests to coatrooms and waiting areas
relay messages to servers and bussers
thank guests upon departure and invite them to return
attend scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions
coordinate with fellow employees to meet guests' needs
fill in for fellow employees as needed to maintain service standards
take and prepare to-go orders
operate cash registers to accept payments
