Job Requirements

  • Previous host experience and/or restaurant experience preferred
  • Experience with OpenTable software preferred
  • Necessary State Food Handler's License(s) and Liquor Serving Permit(s)
  • Excellent communication skills and positive attitude
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to perform essential functions on computerized Point of Sale and reservation systems
  • Working knowledge of dining and beverage service procedures
  • Working knowledge of applicable liquor laws and regulations
  • Be a team player
  • Humility, patience, and resilience

Job Duties

  • Warmly greet guests as they arrive, making them feel comfortable and valued
  • Efficiently manage reservations, both online and via phone, ensuring accurate record-keeping and seating arrangements
  • Continuously build and update guest profiles as new information is gathered
  • Guide guests through a brief introduction to the menu as they are seated and provide specific suggestions highlighting daily specials
  • Keep track of available tables and seating arrangements, coordinating with kitchen and waitstaff to ensure smooth service
  • Manage waitlists effectively, providing accurate wait time estimates and ensuring guests are seated promptly
  • Answer guest inquiries about all Ground businesses, restaurant and pub menus, and events, offering recommendations and assistance
  • Provide support to waitstaff as needed, such as taking to-go orders or assisting with bussing tables
  • Maintain a clean and organized station
  • Maintain current knowledge of food and beverage offerings, including menu changes and sold-out items
  • Process guest payments using proper accounting and cash handling procedures
  • Collaborate with kitchen, bar, and waitstaff to ensure seamless service
  • Uphold high standards of Grounded Table for service quality and guest satisfaction
