Job Requirements

  • Be able to write and speak English
  • must have appropriate city, state, and federal certifications including alcohol and food handling certificates as required by restaurant location
  • ability and willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • must be able to stand for extended periods
  • must be physically able to lift and maneuver objects up to 50 pounds
  • must be dependable and reliable
  • able to follow instructions and communicate effectively
  • possess positive attitude and work well under pressure
  • understand or have experience operating POS or host management systems
  • experience working in a multi-cultural environment

Job Duties

  • Greet guests as they arrive, ensuring proper seating arrangements and reservations check-in or providing a proper wait-list time if necessary
  • engage with guests to ensure a great dining experience
  • embrace the JINYA culture and participate in collective proper company greetings such as "Irasshai" and "Arigato"
  • provide guests with menus, answer any initial questions and assist guests with special accommodations
  • communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members, both front and back of the house operations
  • answer phone calls, take reservations, and assign guests to proper tables while maintaining consistent server rotation
  • ensure cleanliness of host station and front door area visible to guests upon arrival
  • support front of house team operations such as refilling beverages, organizing and maintaining table arrangements, polishing plates or glasses, and resetting tables as requested
  • respond to minor guest complaints and alert management of major service concerns
  • know restaurant information including hours, menu, allergies, table numbers, payment options, and relevant policies
  • promote and execute JINYA's core values of teamwork, hospitality, authenticity, creativity, and integrity
  • complete projects or tasks as requested by manager or supervisor
