Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Hotel or Restaurant Management or related field
  • Four years of previous service management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ServSafe certified
  • Valid driver's license
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Ability to manage unionized staff
  • Proficiency in food service management systems
  • Ability to plan and execute large-scale events
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, frequent bending, and lift up to 25 pounds

Job Duties

  • Plan, organize and manage residential dining, executive dining, cafes and conference services
  • Provide support in event setup, decoration, linen, props, daily service, barbeques, special events and catered functions
  • Support menu forecasting standards
  • Oversee service standards, customer service policies, quality assurance and food handling sanitation
  • Conduct service inspections and evaluations of service, station appearance and cleanliness
  • Obtain guest feedback through surveys and personal interaction
  • Implement and monitor housekeeping, sanitary and safety regulations
  • Develop strong relationships with college leaders, faculty, administration and students
  • Supervise service cafe and dining rooms during meals and special events
  • Monitor revenue and expenses by reviewing financial reports
  • Process payroll, scheduling and attendance
  • Support inventory control
  • Prepare operational reports recommending improvements
  • Interview, select, train and evaluate staff
  • Maintain positive employee relations and manage grievances
  • Conduct performance evaluations
  • Ensure compliance with university policies
