Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, tourism, recreation, or related field
  • 8-10 years tasting room management experience including inventory and people management
  • highly organized
  • leadership experience managing large teams
  • knowledge of wine and winemaking
  • business acumen with P&L management
  • ability to multitask
  • analytical and problem-solving skills
  • proficiency in MS Office
  • availability to work weekends and some evenings
  • current driver's license
  • willingness to perform some out of hours work
  • capable of interstate travel
  • ability to work in field environment with physical demands

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, tourism, recreation, or related field
  • 8-10 years tasting room management experience including inventory and people management
  • excellent hospitality, sales, and communication skills
  • strong business acumen with P&L management and financial analysis capabilities
  • highly organized with ability to multitask
  • experience managing large teams of 15+ members
  • basic to advanced knowledge of wine including viticulture and winemaking
  • analytical and problem-solving skills
  • bilingual in English and another language preferred
  • proficiency in MS Office including Excel and PowerPoint
  • restaurant reservation and table management experience a plus
  • availability to work weekends and some evenings for events
  • MBA preferred

Job Duties

  • Visionary leadership and management of hospitality staff and guest experience
  • staff hiring, orientation, onboarding and management of ongoing training curriculum
  • manage annual training programming to deliver best in class consumer and trade experiences
  • oversee organization structure and efficient delegation of duties
  • ongoing performance discussions and evaluations based on hospitality, brand storytelling, wine knowledge, sales productivity, club conversion, company policies and teamwork
  • payroll and commissions calculations for full time and part time employees
  • assessment of incentive programs for direct sales team
  • consistent and effective communication of safety topics, sales goals, pricing, product releases and marketing promotions to staff
  • communication including sensitive information requiring confidentiality and discretion
  • business ownership to deliver annual sales plan and P&L targets
  • lead and direct all activities related to running the Visitor Center and achieving business priorities including guest experience, brand storytelling, consumer acquisition, club conversion, profit generation, event revenue targets, innovation for growth, and employee satisfaction and development
  • deliver business reviews with management and cross-functional teams
  • lead monthly financial reviews of business performance
  • evaluate sales performance identifying opportunities and risks
  • ensure staff trained as brand and wine experts
  • safety management enforcing sustainability policies
  • manage daily business functions including opening and closing procedures
  • support marketing plans to increase visitors and sales conversions
  • execute operational playbook
  • maintain POS system accuracy
  • control onsite wine inventory
  • maintain compliance with permits, food & safety codes and hosting requirements
  • assist in tasting room operations coaching employees and hosting guests
  • monitor and respond to customer requests and social media reviews
  • plan and execute trade and consumer events
  • serve as creative eye and budget facilitator for events
  • perform all related duties as assigned
  • quantify business objectives and communicate expectations
  • define leadership and functional competencies
  • provide feedback and recognition
  • support team development through coaching and mentoring
  • foster a results driven environment and serve as a role model
