South Texas Blood & Tissue Center (STBTC) is a leading AABB-accredited blood bank operating nine donor centers throughout South Texas. As a subsidiary of BioBridge Global, STBTC is dedicated to providing life-saving blood, plasma, platelets, and other blood components to regional hospitals and emergency first responders. In addition to blood distribution, STBTC supports therapeutic developers and offers clinical research services. Job Requirements
- valid Texas operator's driver’s license
- good driving record
- at least 18 years old
- able to operate motor vehicles in all weather conditions
- ability to process stat orders without delay
- knowledge of and ability to perform according to SOPs and policies
- maintain confidentiality
- effective communication skills
- basic computer proficiency
- able to work an 8-hour shift Saturday through Wednesday from 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm
- reliable transportation as a personal motor vehicle may be required for company business
- able to work in various environmental conditions including exposure to blood borne pathogens
- able to work weekends or evenings if necessary
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or general equivalency diploma
- computer experience
- strong computer skills
- excellent telephone and email etiquette skills
- capable of operating motor vehicles in all types of weather conditions
- knowledge of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies
- familiarity with the community and area serviced
- ability to keep information confidential
- professional, organized, detail oriented, and communicative
- ability to greet the public in a friendly and courteous manner
- ability to process stat orders without delay and work calmly in emergency situations
- neat appearance and well groomed
Job Duties
- assist with daily inventory of blood and blood components
- prepare blood products for shipment in accordance with SOPs and established guidelines
- make deliveries by driving to area hospitals and commercial carriers in a timely manner
- drive to pick up blood and blood components at hospitals, donor sites, blood drives and other locations as required
- perform irradiation procedures
- execute assigned pickups, deliveries, and special instructions in accordance with guidance and prioritization provided by shift coordinator
- recognize equipment malfunctions and technical problems
- take appropriate steps in solving and notifying supervisory personnel as required
- complete and submit trip sheets daily if required
- operate computer terminal
- keep vehicles fueled
- operate vehicles in a safe manner and abide by all traffic laws
- promptly report vehicle repair needs
- participate in continuing education by attending in service training, seminars, and other workshops as required
- perform minor vehicle maintenance
- keep vehicles clean inside and outside
- monitor temperatures of blood storage equipment
- exercise initiative in seeking opportunity training to develop hospital services fulfillment specialist competencies
- serve as alternate/interim fulfillment specialist upon qualification
- perform other duties as assigned
- perform building security checks as necessary
