Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- two or more years of relevant work experience in hospital, nursing home, or similar environment
- valid driver’s license in good standing
- ability to adhere to safety and hygiene standards
- capacity to follow detailed cooking and food preparation procedures
- effective communication and customer service skills
- flexibility to work rotating shifts

- Two or more years of work experience in a hospital, nursing home, or equivalent setting
- valid driver’s license in good standing
- high school diploma or equivalent
Job Duties
- Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes and proper cooking standards
- use kitchen utensils and equipment including scales, mixers, grinders, and slicers to prepare menu items
- bake, roast, broil, steam and fry meats, fish, vegetables and other foods
- observe and taste food and add ingredients or seasonings to improve flavor and texture
- portion food correctly onto patient or guest trays
- ensure proper safety and cleanliness methods
- maintain cleanliness, hygiene and storage procedures in line with Department of Health standards
- attend required monthly in-services
- comply with Infection Control policies and procedures
- review menus and production sheets to determine types and quantities of food to prepare
- plan cooking schedules to meet specified times
- prepare food items by washing, trimming and seasoning
- prepare pre-preparation items according to production
- adhere to CACFP requirements for food preparation and service
- attend required training and maintain CACFP knowledge
- complete transportation records for quantities prepared and record any waste
- handle food in a sanitary manner, maintaining proper temperatures
- demonstrate effective customer service following CARES standards
- maintain safety program and report safety concerns appropriately
