Job Description

UW Medical Center-Montlake Environmental Services is currently seeking Day Hospital Custodians to join their dedicated team. Job Requirements

  • Physical ability to perform custodial duties including lifting and standing for extended periods
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week on the day shift with rotating weekends
  • Adherence to safety and infection control procedures
  • Ability to handle bloodborne pathogens and chemical spills safely
  • Must be able to perform manual tasks including shoveling and use of hand-operated equipment
  • Eligible for employment in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous custodial or environmental services experience preferred
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Ability to follow detailed cleaning procedures and safety protocols
  • Experience operating floor care machines such as buffers and scrubbers
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability

Job Duties

  • Cleans and disinfects all furniture, fixtures, and equipment according to procedure
  • Removes and properly handles soiled linen
  • disinfects and remakes beds in patient rooms
  • dusts and wet mops hard floors with disinfectant
  • Performs bloodborne pathogen and chemical spill containment and clean-up according to procedure
  • Strips, cleans, buffs, and applies finish to floors using high speed floor buffers, polishers, and automated floor scrubbers
  • Performs in between case cleaning and terminal cleaning of surgical, obstetrical, and invasive procedure rooms including flood mopping and disinfecting according to procedure
  • Vacuums and spot cleans carpets
  • operates automated carpet shampooers and extractors
  • Performs cleaning and related activities in areas outside the facility using hand-operated tools or small power equipment to remove snow or debris, and sweep sidewalks or stairs
  • Complies with safety policies and procedures and medical center emergency and disaster procedures
