Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- state tested nursing assistant (STNA) in good standing on the Ohio Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry
- two years experience in related healthcare role preferred
- ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- insurable under specified professional liability and crime coverage standards
- able to work weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled
- able to lift, transfer, push or pull up to 50 pounds
- able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- willingness to work with patients with varied disease processes and exposure risks
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- state tested nursing assistant (STNA) in good standing on the Ohio Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry
- two years experience as an STNA, home health aide, or similar acute care position preferred
- knowledgeable of home health aide practices and procedures preferred
- ability to communicate effectively in English
- possesses valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- insurable under professional liability and crime coverage policies
Job Duties
- Completes personal care as directed by the hospice nurse
- provides personal care including bathing, oral hygiene, hair care, shaving, skin care, nail care, foot care and dressing
- provides psychosocial support to patients and families related to end of life care
- assists with nutritional services including meal set up and feeding
- reports changes in patient condition to hospice nurse or supervisor
- assists with patient mobility including walking, transferring, turning and positioning
- assists with toileting needs including bedpan, urinal, commode, toilet use and incontinence care
- helps patients self-administer medications and responds to medication reminder systems
- maintains a safe and clean environment including light housekeeping and errand running
- performs basic healthcare tasks such as taking vital signs and catheter care
- provides terminal care assistance
- drives patients to and from appointments occasionally
- maintains comfort by adjusting environment
- provides therapeutic touch and complementary therapies as requested
- supports emotional status of patients and families
- communicates respectfully and sensitively with patients, families and caregivers
