Job Requirements
- High school graduate, have a GED, or demonstrate ability to read and write adequately
- be at least eighteen years old
- able to communicate verbally and in writing
- work responsibly with confidential information
- work independently
- work well with aged and disabled individuals with limited functioning
- possess a valid state-issued ID
- have access to reliable transportation
- current and active first aid and CPR certification
- physically able to perform job tasks
- free from communicable diseases of major public health concern
- demonstrate interest and empathy for ill, elderly, or disabled
- emotionally mature and responsible
- have good communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to recognize signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation
- knowledge of emergency procedures and prevention measures
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- effective verbal and written communication skills
- ability to work independently
- experience working with aged or disabled individuals preferred
- current and active first aid and CPR certification
- emotional maturity and empathy for ill, elderly, or disabled people
- good interpersonal skills
- knowledge of preventing burns, falls, and fires
- understanding of Vulnerable Adult Act and abuse recognition
- ability to complete required forms and reports adequately
Job Duties
- Provide mouth and denture care
- assist with shaving
- perform finger and toenail care without cutting
- groom hair including shampooing, combing, and oiling
- assist with bathing or bed baths
- help with dressing
- assist with toileting and cleaning
- remind clients to take medication
- assist with eating
- transfer or reposition clients
- support ambulation
- perform housekeeping duties such as cleaning rooms, preparing shopping lists, purchasing and storing groceries, meal preparation and serving, laundering, ironing, sweeping, mopping, dusting, running errands
- supervise and assist during community outings
- operate and clean household equipment
- change linens and make beds
- clean kitchen including washing dishes
- provide compassionate companionship
- perform other duties as assigned
