Job Requirements

  • Less than high school education
  • Up to one month related experience or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words
  • Ability to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers
  • Ability to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s
  • Ability to perform mathematical operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables

Job Duties

  • Adheres to Wilderness at the Smokies standards for guest service
  • Prepares, arranges and continually updates food according to Wilderness at the Smokies recipes, preparations and food presentations
  • Adhere to all Health Department Policies and Procedures
  • Stores and handles food properly
  • Reports and documents any observed or known safety hazards, conditions, or unsafe practices and procedures to management immediately
  • Cleans and maintains kitchen as directed by management in conjunction with Health Department policies and procedures
  • Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
  • Clean up stations and sanitize accordingly
  • Prepare food in high quality and in a timely manner
  • All other duties as assigned by management
