Job Requirements
- Membership in the California National Guard is required
- Compatible military assignment and grade must be maintained
- Must meet the military grade requirement of WO-1 through WO-3, O-2, or O-3
- Must provide flight records or face disqualification
- Must successfully complete a one or two year trial period
- Must maintain appropriate security clearance with at least a National Agency Check
- Must wear the military uniform and adhere to grooming standards
- Must participate in direct deposit
- Must be registered under the Military Selective Service Act if applicable
- Must be willing to relocate if authorized
- Recruitment and relocation incentives may be authorized
- Must submit unofficial transcripts and certificates if using education to qualify or substitute experience
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of one year on-the-job experience at the grade or comparable military rank immediately below the next higher level
- Experience in civilian or military aviation programs including Army National Guard Aviation Support or Air National Guard Operations
- Specialized competencies in operating military rotary wing aircraft including mission planning and preparation
- Experience with flight planning, crew briefings, aircraft inspections, and mission execution tasks
- Knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, and mission tactics
- Familiarity with Department of Defense, Army, National Guard Bureau, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations
- FAA certification or equivalent military aviation certification
- Ability to provide flight records for verification
- Competency in flight systems, mission execution, operation and control, and tests and measurement
Job Duties
- Pilot a variety of rotary wing aircraft in support of assigned missions
- Plan and prepare for missions including reviewing intelligence and weather information
- Conduct aircraft preflight inspections and ensure proper loading and equipment assessments
- Perform and supervise navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue, or surveillance and reconnaissance
- Train and supervise crew members on mission-specific tasks
- Develop and implement operational plans, policies, and safety programs
- Monitor flight operations and advise commanders on mission execution and safety compliance
