Job Description
This position is offered by the United States Army Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD) or any Army Aviation Facility where the need is deemed appropriate by the Facility Supervisor or State Army Aviation Officer. AVCRAD and Army Aviation Facilities operate under the Department of the Army and are integral to the maintenance, readiness, and operational capability of Army aviation assets. These institutions are responsible for supporting the nation's defense by ensuring that helicopter and other aviation systems are fully mission-capable through rigorous maintenance, repair, and operational oversight.

Job Requirements
- must have at least one year on-the-job experience in the grade or comparable military rank immediately below the next higher level
- must have at least two years specialized competencies in operating specific main-frame military aircraft, mission planning, and mission preparation
- experience reviewing and analyzing mission tasking, intelligence, and weather
- experience filing flight plans and conducting crew briefings
- experience with aircraft preflight inspections, loading, and equipment assessments
- experience performing or supervising navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue or reconnaissance
- experience conducting or supervising crew training in mission tasks
- experience developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, advising commanders
- knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, operating procedures
- knowledge of unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs according to DoD, Army, National Guard Bureau, and OSHA policies
- must have FAA certification or equivalent military aviation certification
- must provide flight records
- must submit unofficial transcripts or certificates if using education to qualify
- attendance at an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
Job Qualifications
- Federal Aviation Administration certification from an accredited civilian aviation program or equivalent military aviation certification
- minimum one year on-the-job experience in a comparable military rank
- at least two years specialized experience in military aircraft operation and mission planning
- ability to review and analyze mission intelligence
- experience conducting crew briefings
- knowledge of aircraft preflight inspections and loading
- supervisory experience in navigation and mission operations
- aptitude for training and developing crew members
- familiarity with flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, and flying directives
- knowledge of unit flying and safety programs compliance
Job Duties
- Operate and control main-frame military aircraft
- plan and prepare missions
