Job Description

This Helicopter Pilot (Accelerated Hire) position is available to be utilized at an Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD) or any Army Aviation Facility where the requirement is deemed appropriate by the Facility Supervisor or State Army Aviation Officer. It forms part of the CA 1106 TASMG. This role is primarily focused on the operation of military helicopters, mission planning, and execution within various Army aviation environments.

Job Requirements

  • At least one year on-the-job experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 or comparable military rank
  • Minimum two years specialized experience in military helicopter operation and mission planning
  • Must provide complete flight records
  • Education from an accredited aviation program or equivalent military certification
  • Submission of transcripts or certificates at application
  • Foreign education must be evaluated for equivalency
  • Compliance with Department of Defense and Army Aviation safety policies
  • Ability to analyze mission tasking and perform flight-related duties

Job Qualifications

  • Federal Aviation Administration certification or accredited military aviation certification
  • Experience operating military helicopters and mission planning
  • Knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, and mission tactics
  • Experience with unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs
  • Ability to review and analyze mission intelligence and operational information
  • Skill in conducting crew briefings and training
  • Knowledge of Department of Defense and Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations

Job Duties

  • Operate main-frame military aircraft during missions
  • Review and analyze mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information
  • File flight plans and conduct crew briefings
  • Perform aircraft preflight inspections, loading, and equipment assessments
  • Supervise navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue, and reconnaissance tasks
  • Conduct or supervise crew training on mission-specific tasks
  • Develop plans and policies, monitor operations, and advise commanders
