Job Requirements

  • Maintain a weight not to exceed 250 pounds
  • be less than 70 years old
  • regular scheduled attendance on 7 days a week schedule with 12-hour shifts
  • ability to perform essential functions satisfactorily
  • adherence to all Air Methods employment practices and policies

Job Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and two to five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • pilot must have flown in category within previous 24 months
  • 2500 total flight hours with minimum 2000 flight hours in category
  • 1000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
  • 500 hours cross-country flight time including at least 50 hours at night
  • 100 hours unaided night as PIC or 50 hours unaided plus 100 hours NVG
  • 75 hours actual or simulated instrument time with at least 50 hours in flight including 20 hours in actual instrument conditions in category
  • instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
  • fixed wing multiengine rating for twin-engine aircraft
  • commercial single-engine land rating for single-engine aircraft
  • first or second class FAA medical certificate required

Job Duties

  • Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • completes pre-flight inspections verifying aircraft airworthiness
  • holds final authority for flight operations and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
  • maintains thorough knowledge of aircraft and medical systems, ensuring crew familiarity and comfort
  • completes all required flight documentation accurately
  • conducts detailed flight planning with short notice
  • participates in meetings, projects, community outreach, and other assigned duties
