Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent
  • two to five years of aviation-related experience and/or training
  • bachelor's degree preferred
  • maintain weight not to exceed 250 pounds
  • be less than 70 years old
  • current within flight category within previous 24 months
  • valid FAA instrument rating
  • required type ratings for specific aircraft
  • first or second-class FAA medical certificate
  • availability to work full-time with shifts of 7 days on and 7 days off
  • regular scheduled attendance
  • compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations and company policies

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • two to five years of related experience and/or training
  • bachelor's degree preferred
  • positive interpersonal skills with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public
  • flight in category within previous 24 months
  • 2500 total flight hours with minimum 2000 hours in category
  • 1000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours of rotor wing turbine time
  • 500 hours cross-country flight time including at least 50 hours at night
  • 100 hours unaided night as PIC (50 hours of unaided can be substituted with 100 hours NVG time, minimum 50 hours unaided)
  • 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument time including 20 hours actual instrument conditions in category
  • instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
  • fixed wing multiengine rating for twin-engine aircraft
  • commercial single-engine land rating for single-engine aircraft
  • first or second-class FAA medical certificate required

Job Duties

  • Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • completes pre-flight inspections and verifies aircraft airworthiness
  • holds final authority for aircraft operation and passenger safety
  • ensures familiarity with aircraft and medical systems including backup aircraft
  • completes required documentation accurately and timely
  • conducts detailed flight planning with little notice
  • participates in company meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach
  • performs other duties as assigned
