Job Requirements
- Maintain weight not to exceed 250 pounds
- be less than 70 years old
- regular scheduled attendance for 7 days a week, 12-hour shifts
- comply with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR)
- meet Flight for Life Colorado minimum flight experience
- hold valid pilot certifications and medical certificates
- ability to perform pre-flight inspections and flight planning
- strongly familiar with aircraft and medical systems
- excellent decision-making under pressure
- participate in meetings and community outreach as required
Job Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with two to five years related experience or training
- bachelor's degree preferred
- maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public
- piloted within category in previous 24 months
- 2000 total flight hours with minimum 1500 in category
- 1000 hours PIC in category
- 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
- 200 hours cross-country flight including 50 night hours
- 100 hours unaided night PIC (or equivalent NVG hours)
- 50 hours actual or hood instrument time in category
- meets Flight for Life Colorado minimums including 3000 flight hours and over 250 hours mountain flight experience
- instrument rating (category and class)
- commercial single-engine land required for single-engine aircraft
- multi-engine rating for twin-engine
- first or second class FAA medical certificate
Job Duties
- Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
- completes pre-flight inspections before every flight verifying aircraft airworthiness including daily flight logs
- holds final authority for aircraft operation and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
- maintains thorough knowledge of aircraft and medical systems and ensures medical flight team familiarity
- completes all required documentation
- conducts detailed flight planning under short notice
- participates in Air Methods meetings, projects, and community outreach
- performs other duties as assigned
