Job Requirements

  • Must maintain a weight not to exceed 250 pounds
  • must be under 70 years of age
  • regular scheduled attendance on a 7/7 schedule with 12 hour shifts
  • pilots must have flown in category within previous 24 months
  • compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, Aeronautical Information Manual, General Operations Manual, and Air Methods policies
  • final responsibility for flight safety
  • ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships
  • willingness to participate regularly in company meetings and community outreach
  • ability to perform detailed flight planning at short notice

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • two to five years' related experience and/or training
  • bachelor’s degree preferred
  • extensive flight experience including 2500 total flight hours with a minimum of 2000 in category
  • 1000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours of rotor wing turbine time
  • 500 hours cross-country flight time with 50 at night
  • 100 hours unaided night as PIC or equivalent NVG time
  • 75 hours instrument time with at least 50 in flight
  • instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
  • fixed wing multiengine rating for twin-engine aircraft
  • commercial single-engine land for single-engine aircraft
  • current first or second class FAA medical certificate

Job Duties

  • Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • completes pre-flight verification and signs off on Daily Flight Logs before every flight
  • holds final authority over aircraft operations and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
  • maintains thorough familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems including backup equipment
  • ensures medical flight team is comfortable with medical interiors and systems
  • completes required documentation timely and accurately
  • conducts detailed flight planning often on short notice
  • participates in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach
  • performs other duties as assigned
