Job Requirements

  • maintain weight not exceeding 250 pounds
  • be less than 70 years old
  • regular scheduled attendance on a 7 days per week schedule with 12-hour shifts
  • compliance with federal aviation regulations and company policies
  • ability to perform essential flight operations and safety checks
  • meet and maintain FAA certifications and medical requirements
  • ability to conduct pre-flight inspections and flight planning
  • demonstrate ability to work cohesively within a medical flight team

Job Qualifications

  • associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • two to five years of related experience and/or training
  • bachelor's degree preferred
  • maintenance of positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public
  • recent flight experience within the previous 24 months
  • substantial flight hours including 2500 total with minimum 2000 in category
  • 1000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
  • 500 hours cross-country with at least 50 at night
  • 100 hours unaided night time as PIC with substitution allowed for NVG time
  • 75 hours of instrument time including at least 20 hours in actual instrument conditions
  • FAA instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
  • commercial single-engine land rating for single-engine aircraft
  • fixed wing multiengine rating for twin-engine aircraft
  • first or second class FAA medical certificate

Job Duties

  • operate air methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • complete pre-flight checks verifying aircraft airworthiness
  • maintain final authority for aircraft operation and safety of passengers and equipment
  • familiarize with all aircraft and medical systems and ensure medical team comfort with equipment
  • complete required documentation accurately
  • conduct detailed flight planning with little notice
  • participate in company meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach
  • perform other assigned duties
