Job Requirements

  • Maintains weight not to exceed 250 pounds
  • under 70 years old
  • regular scheduled attendance on 7 days per week schedule with 12 hour shifts
  • compliance with FAR, AIM, GOM, and company policies
  • ability to perform detailed flight planning with little notice
  • maintains FAA medical certificate
  • pilots must have recent flight experience within 24 months
  • effective communication and positive interpersonal skills

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • two to five years' related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • bachelor's degree preferred
  • maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals and the public
  • pilots must have flown in category within the previous 24 months
  • minimum of 2500 total flight hours with at least 2000 in category
  • 1000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
  • 500 hours cross-country flight time with at least 50 at night
  • 100 hours unaided night flight as PIC or 50 hours unaided plus 100 NVG
  • 75 hours actual or simulated instrument time with at least 50 hours in flight including 20 hours in actual instrument conditions
  • instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
  • fixed wing multiengine rating for twin-engine aircraft
  • commercial single-engine land certificate for single-engine aircraft
  • first or second class FAA medical certificate

Job Duties

  • Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • completes pre-flight before every flight verifying the aircraft is in airworthy condition by sign off of Daily Flight Log
  • performs a complete walk around of the aircraft prior to entering the cockpit and upon completion of each flight
  • holds final authority regarding operations of the aircraft and safety of passengers, cargo and equipment
  • must be thoroughly familiar with all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft and ensures medical flight team is familiar and comfortable with medical interior and systems
  • responsible for completion of required documentation
  • able to conduct detailed flight planning on short notice to exacting standards
  • participates regularly in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees and community outreach
  • performs other duties as assigned
