Job Requirements

  • Must possess FAA Commercial Rotor Craft Pilot license with Instrument Rating
  • Must have current FAA 2nd Class or higher Medical Certification
  • Must undergo required FAA and aircraft manufacturer training
  • Must maintain valid motor vehicle driver’s license
  • Minimum 1000 hours in rotor wing aircraft as Pilot in Command
  • Minimum 120 hours as Pilot in Command in last 12 months
  • Minimum 200 hours as Pilot in Command during night conditions
  • Maintain current FAA Flight Review
  • Experience operating in Class B or restricted airspace
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to provide after-hours on call support
  • Must pass criminal background check, traffic record check, consumer credit check, reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug and alcohol tests
  • Must maintain valid motor vehicle operator’s permit

Job Qualifications

  • Possess Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Rotor Craft Pilot license with Instrument Rating
  • Hold current FAA 2nd Class or higher Medical Certification
  • Provide proof of required license and certifications
  • Experience with at least 1000 hours as Pilot in Command in rotor wing aircraft including 120 hours in last 12 months and 200 hours during night conditions
  • Maintain FAA Flight Review in rotor wing aircraft
  • Proficient in operating within Class B or restricted airspace
  • Preferably possess public safety, military or law enforcement aviation experience
  • Demonstrated ability to safely operate helicopter in complex and sensitive operational scenarios

Job Duties

  • Operate a helicopter in aerial surveillance, search and rescue, and traffic monitoring missions
  • Serve as Pilot-in-Command during high-risk law enforcement aviation operations
  • Utilize advanced aviation technology including Night Vision Goggles and Forward-Looking Infrared systems
  • Transport personnel and equipment for specialized law enforcement missions
  • Provide live video downlink to command centers
  • Maintain detailed flight logs and pilot records
  • Coordinate with law enforcement and air traffic control agencies
  • Monitor and interpret weather reports to plan safe flight routes
  • Conduct river and traffic observations and report critical conditions
  • Serve as liaison with multiple agencies and testify in court as needed
