Job Requirements

  • Regular scheduled attendance
  • Maintain weight not to exceed 250 pounds
  • Be less than 70 years old
  • 2000 total flight hours with minimum 1500 flight hours in category for VFR program
  • 1000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
  • 200 hours cross-country flight time with at least 50 at night
  • 100 hours unaided night as PIC with possible NVG substitution
  • 50 hours total actual or hood instrument time in flight for VFR
  • For IFR program - 2500 total hours with minimum 2000 hours in category
  • 1000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours cross-country flight time
  • 100 hours night flight time
  • 75 hours actual or simulated instrument time including 20 hours actual instrument conditions
  • Subject to DOT/FAA drug and alcohol testing requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • Two to five years related experience and/or training
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Commercial and Instrument Rating for category and class of aircraft
  • ATP rating in category meets requirement
  • First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate
  • Experience flying in category for commercial operator or military within the previous 24 months
  • Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public

Job Duties

  • Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • Completes pre-flight checks before every flight verifying aircraft airworthiness
  • Maintains final authority over aircraft operations and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
  • Ensures familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft at the operational area
  • Responsible for completing all required documentation
  • Conducts detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards
  • Participates regularly in company meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach
  • Performs other duties as assigned
