Job Requirements

  • Maintain weight not to exceed 250 pounds
  • be less than 70 years old
  • 2500 total flight hours with minimum 2000 flight hours in category
  • 1000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
  • 500 hours cross-country flight time with at least 50 hours at night
  • 100 hours unaided night as PIC or 50 hours unaided accompanied by 100 hours NVG time
  • 75 hours actual or simulated instrument time with at least 50 hours in flight including 20 hours in actual instrument conditions
  • regular scheduled attendance for 7 days on/7 days off 12-hour shifts

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and two to five years related experience and/or training
  • bachelor's degree preferred
  • knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations, Aeronautical Information Manual, and General Operations Manual guidelines
  • excellent interpersonal skills to maintain positive relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public
  • must have flown in category within previous 24 months
  • instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
  • fixed wing multiengine rating required for twin-engine aircraft
  • commercial single-engine land required for single-engine aircraft
  • FAA first or second class medical certificate required

Job Duties

  • Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • completes pre-flight checks verifying the aircraft is airworthy by signing off Daily Flight Log
  • performs complete walk around of the aircraft before and after flights
  • serves as final authority for aircraft operations and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
  • thoroughly familiarizes with all aircraft and medical systems of primary and backup aircraft
  • ensures medical flight team is comfortable with medical interior and systems
  • completes required operational documentation
  • conducts detailed flight planning with little notice
  • participates regularly in company meetings, projects, community outreach, and other activities
  • performs other duties as assigned
