Job Requirements

  • Maintain weight not to exceed 250 pounds
  • be less than 70 years old
  • associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and two to five years related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • comply with Federal Aviation Regulations, Aeronautical Information Manual, General Operations Manual, and Air Methods policies and procedures
  • demonstrate regular scheduled attendance
  • must complete 12-hour shifts in a 7 days on/7 days off rotation
  • FAA medical certificate current
  • meet instrument flight rules requirements
  • maintain positive interpersonal relationships
  • able to complete flight planning on short notice

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred
  • bachelor's degree preferred
  • minimum 2500 total flight hours with at least 2000 in category
  • minimum 1000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
  • 500 hours cross-country flight with at least 50 night hours
  • 100 hours unaided night as PIC or substitution with NVG time
  • 75 hours actual or simulated instrument time including at least 50 in-flight hours and 20 hours in actual instrument conditions
  • instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
  • fixed wing multiengine rating for twin-engine aircraft
  • commercial single-engine land rating for single-engine aircraft
  • first or second class FAA medical certificate
  • must have flown in category within previous 24 months
  • strong interpersonal skills with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and public

Job Duties

  • Operate Air Methods aircraft safely and legally
  • complete pre-flight inspections verifying aircraft airworthiness
  • assume final authority for aircraft operations and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
  • maintain thorough knowledge of aircraft and medical systems, ensuring medical crews are comfortable with equipment
  • complete required operational documentation
  • conduct detailed and timely flight planning
  • participate in company meetings, projects, and community outreach
  • perform other assigned duties
