Job Requirements

  • Maintain weight not to exceed 250 pounds
  • be less than 70 years old
  • 2000 total flight hours with minimum 1500 hours in category (VFR program)
  • 1000 hours Pilot in Command in category
  • 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
  • 200 hours cross-country flight time with 50 hours at night
  • 100 hours unaided night as PIC (50 hours unaided minimum)
  • 50 hours actual or hood instrument time in flight and in category
  • 2500 total flight hours with minimum 2000 hours in category (IFR program)
  • 1000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours cross-country flight time
  • 100 hours night flight time
  • 75 hours actual or simulated instrument time including 50 hours in flight and 20 hours in actual instrument conditions
  • subject to DOT/FAA drug and alcohol testing
  • regular scheduled attendance
  • follow Air Methods employment practices and policies

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • two to five years of related experience and/or training
  • bachelor's degree preferred
  • commercial and instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
  • ATP rating in category
  • FAA First or Second Class Medical certificate
  • recent flight experience in category within previous 24 months
  • maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public
  • ability to operate under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) programs

Job Duties

  • Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • complete pre-flight checks verifying aircraft airworthiness and sign off on Daily Flight Log
  • perform walk-around inspections before and after flights
  • maintain authority over aircraft operations ensuring safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
  • ensure familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems used at the operational area
  • conduct detailed flight planning on short notice
  • participate in meetings, projects, committees, and community outreach
  • complete required documentation
