Job Requirements
- Maintain weight not to exceed 250 pounds
- be less than 70 years old
- 2000 total flight hours with minimum 1500 hours in category (VFR program)
- 1000 hours Pilot in Command in category
- 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
- 200 hours cross-country flight time with 50 hours at night
- 100 hours unaided night as PIC (50 hours unaided minimum)
- 50 hours actual or hood instrument time in flight and in category
- 2500 total flight hours with minimum 2000 hours in category (IFR program)
- 1000 hours PIC in category
- 500 hours cross-country flight time
- 100 hours night flight time
- 75 hours actual or simulated instrument time including 50 hours in flight and 20 hours in actual instrument conditions
- subject to DOT/FAA drug and alcohol testing
- regular scheduled attendance
- follow Air Methods employment practices and policies
Job Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
- two to five years of related experience and/or training
- bachelor's degree preferred
- commercial and instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
- ATP rating in category
- FAA First or Second Class Medical certificate
- recent flight experience in category within previous 24 months
- maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public
- ability to operate under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) programs
Job Duties
- Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
- complete pre-flight checks verifying aircraft airworthiness and sign off on Daily Flight Log
- perform walk-around inspections before and after flights
- maintain authority over aircraft operations ensuring safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
- ensure familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems used at the operational area
- conduct detailed flight planning on short notice
- participate in meetings, projects, committees, and community outreach
- complete required documentation
