Job Requirements

  • Maintains weight not to exceed 250 pounds
  • less than seventy years old
  • 2500 total flight hours with minimum 2000 in category
  • 1000 pilot-in-command hours in category
  • 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
  • 500 hours cross-country flight time including 50 at night
  • 100 hours unaided night as pilot in command
  • 75 hours simulated or actual instrument time including 20 hours in actual instrument conditions
  • complies with Federal Aviation Regulations, Aeronautical Information Manual, and company policies
  • able to work 7-on, 7-off schedule with 12-hour shifts
  • able to perform pre-flight inspections and flight planning
  • participates regularly in company activities

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • two to five years' related flight experience
  • instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
  • FAA commercial pilot certification
  • multiengine rating for twin engine aircraft
  • valid first or second class FAA medical certificate
  • experience flying in category within previous 24 months
  • strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with medical and EMS teams
  • ability to maintain professionalism and safety under pressure

Job Duties

  • Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • completes pre-flight inspections verifying airworthiness
  • serves as final authority on safety and operations of flight
  • ensures familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems
  • completes required flight documentation accurately
  • conducts detailed flight planning
  • participates in company meetings, activities, and community outreach
  • performs other assigned duties
