Job Requirements

  • Regular scheduled attendance
  • Maintains weight not to exceed 250 pounds
  • Be less than seventy years old
  • Hold a Commercial and Instrument Rating for category and class of aircraft
  • ATP rating in category meets requirements
  • Possess a First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate
  • Have 2000 total flight hours with minimum 1500 hours in category
  • Have 1000 hours PIC in category
  • Have 500 hours of rotor wing turbine time
  • Have 200 hours of cross-country flight time, at least 50 at night
  • Have 100 hours unaided night as PIC, with 50 hours of unaided time minimum
  • Have 50 hours total actual or hood instrument time in flight and category, simulator time does not count

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and two to five years’ related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Must have flown in category for a commercial operator or military within the previous 24 months
  • Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations and company policies
  • Ability to perform detailed flight planning under pressure

Job Duties

  • Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • Completes pre-flight inspections before every flight verifying the aircraft is airworthy and signs off the Daily Flight Log
  • Holds final authority for the operations of the aircraft and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
  • Maintains thorough familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft and ensures medical flight team comfort with medical interiors and systems
  • Responsible for completion of required documentation
  • Conducts detailed flight planning with little notice to precise standards
  • Participates in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach
  • Performs other duties as assigned
