Job Requirements

  • Maintain weight not to exceed 250 pounds
  • Be under seventy years old
  • 2500 total flight hours with minimum 2000 hours in category
  • 1000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
  • 500 hours cross-country flight time including at least 50 hours at night
  • 100 hours unaided night as PIC (with substitution permitted for NVG hours not below 50 hours unaided)
  • 75 hours actual or simulated instrument time including at least 50 hours flight time in category
  • Regular scheduled attendance on 7 days per week 12-hour shift schedule
  • Compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, Aeronautical Information Manual, and Air Methods policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with two to five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Must maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public
  • Pilots must have flown in category within previous 24 months
  • Instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
  • Fixed wing multiengine rating for twin-engine aircraft
  • Commercial single-engine land rating for single-engine aircraft
  • Must hold first or second class FAA medical certificate

Job Duties

  • Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • Completes pre-flight inspection before every flight verifying aircraft airworthiness
  • Serves as final authority for aircraft operation safety for passengers, cargo, and equipment
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of aircraft and medical systems including backup aircraft
  • Completes all required flight documentation accurately
  • Conducts detailed flight planning with minimal notice
  • Participates in company meetings, projects, and community outreach
  • Performs other duties as assigned
