Job Requirements
- Maintain weight not to exceed 250 pounds
- Be under seventy years old
- 2500 total flight hours with minimum 2000 hours in category
- 1000 hours PIC in category
- 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
- 500 hours cross-country flight time including at least 50 hours at night
- 100 hours unaided night as PIC (with substitution permitted for NVG hours not below 50 hours unaided)
- 75 hours actual or simulated instrument time including at least 50 hours flight time in category
- Regular scheduled attendance on 7 days per week 12-hour shift schedule
- Compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, Aeronautical Information Manual, and Air Methods policies and procedures
Job Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with two to five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Must maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public
- Pilots must have flown in category within previous 24 months
- Instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
- Fixed wing multiengine rating for twin-engine aircraft
- Commercial single-engine land rating for single-engine aircraft
- Must hold first or second class FAA medical certificate
Job Duties
- Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
- Completes pre-flight inspection before every flight verifying aircraft airworthiness
- Serves as final authority for aircraft operation safety for passengers, cargo, and equipment
- Maintains thorough knowledge of aircraft and medical systems including backup aircraft
- Completes all required flight documentation accurately
- Conducts detailed flight planning with minimal notice
- Participates in company meetings, projects, and community outreach
- Performs other duties as assigned
